Chic, chic, Quellenhof: Asset manager Jagdfeld Real Estate has now also successfully completed the comprehensive refurbishment of the public areas in its “Parkhotel Quellenhof” property in Aachen, which now also presents itself to all restaurant and day guests in a completely new look. The investment volume amounts to around € 630,000.
“After thoroughly modernizing the rooms and suites on the 3rd floor in spring, we have now been able to comprehensively refurbish the public areas around the lobby, fireplace and tea room as well as the conference rooms. The ‘Quellenhof’ has become more modern and approachable and combines refreshing elegance with great tradition,” says Benedikt Jagdfeld, head of Jagdfeld Real Estate, which is carrying out the modernization on behalf of the owners.
The craftsmen implemented the design concept of the internationally renowned interior designer Anne Maria Jagdfeld in several months of meticulous detail work and tackled the fireplace and tea hall, rotunda, corridors, lobby and the London, Vienna and Lakme event rooms, completely overhauling or renewing the floors, ceilings and walls and then fitting them with new furniture, curtains and energy-saving lighting. The focus was on refurbishment that conserved as many resources as possible, so that a lot could be recycled instead of having to be disposed of. Just last spring, Jagdfeld Real Estate invested almost three million euros in the fundamental modernization of 33 rooms and suites at the “Parkhotel Quellenhof”.
Once again voted one of the best German hotels
The fact that the “Parkhotel Quellenhof” was once again named one of the 101 best hotels in Germany is almost a mirror image of this. The Düsseldorf-based “Handelsblatt”, “IU International Hochschule”, Madame and “Passion for Excellence AG” as the organizer of the competition (https://die-101-besten.com), which is “exclusively oriented towards the upscale service requirements of the guest”, recently selected Aachen’s first address from over 11,000 hotels. “This is a great and well-deserved recognition of our work, which spurs us on,” says Benedikt Jagdfeld happily.
The “Parkhotel Quellenhof” in Aachen
In the spring of 1913, work began on the then “Hotel Palace Aachener Quellenhof”, which was officially opened on June 8, 1916. During the Second World War, in the fall of 1944, the entire interior fell victim to destruction and looting, and the Wandelhalle was completely destroyed. Only the structure of the Quellenhof building was preserved, the bathing facilities of the spa center were almost completely destroyed.
Reconstruction took years, and it was not until 1948 that the first hotel rooms were available again. After acquiring the “Parkhotel Quellenhof” from the city, Jagdfeld Real Estate completely modernized and renovated it in 1998/1999 and opened it in 1999 as Aachen’s first and only grand hotel on 18,848 m². In 2001 and 2002, the hotel with its then 181 rooms and suites was extended by a conference, wellness and beauty center of 3,122 m².
Asset manager Jagdfeld Real Estate has managed the current “Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen” since the beginning (1999) on behalf of an owner company, which decided in 2019 to manage the hotel itself as an individual grand hotel from 2020. Since then, the “Quellenhof” with its 122 rooms and suites has been carefully and extensively modernized during ongoing operations.
