Düren/Aachen, 30 July 2025: Asset manager “Jagdfeld Real Estate” is now investing a further €1.9 million in the “Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen”, continuing the resource-efficient revitalization of Aachen’s premier address:

  • The 98 rooms and suites on the 1st and 2nd floors as well as the “Kurmittelhaus” will be extensively modernized during ongoing operations and will receive, among other things, new carpets and curtains; furniture and marble tiles in the bathrooms will be refurbished. The suites will receive a special upgrade.
  • In the banqueting area, curtains and wall coverings in the “Berlin” conference room will be replaced and the music systems in the “London” and “Vienna” rooms will be renewed; new banqueting tables and 200 chairs will open up numerous options for dinner arrangements and meetings.
  • In addition to the “Elephant Bar” on the first floor, a “Hotel Shop” will be set up for the first time, offering both everyday and unusual accessories for hotel guests.
  • The cold stores will be renovated, which will improve the energy balance and optimize the walking routes. The installation of LED lighting and motion detectors, initially primarily in the underground car park, is also beneficial both ecologically and economically.
  • The building automation system will be future-proofed with a new central computer, the grease separator replaced, the fire alarm system expanded and parts of the wastewater systems in the basement rooms renovated.

We are thus taking another important step towards making Aachen’s premier address fit for the future and continuing the careful modernization. The new signature, which became recognizable in 2023 with the redesign of the 3rd floor and makes the Quellenhof more approachable, will of course also be noticeable on the 1st and 2nd floors. Our business and leisure customers will appreciate the new features in front of and behind the scenes, and the people of Aachen will have one more reason to visit their Grand Hotel,” says Benedikt Jagdfeld, Head of
“Jagdfeld Real Estate”, who expects the work to be completed in the 4th quarter.

The entrepreneur emphasizes that “we will now have worked on all areas of the hotel, including those invisible to the customer, and implemented necessary improvements in technology and the back office in addition to many obvious innovations.” Since 2020, Jagdfeld Real Estate has invested a total of around €8 million in the terrace, bar, spa, technology, new beds, televisions, Wi-Fi and internet, among other things – including around €3 million in 2023 for the fundamental modernization of the rooms and suites on the 3rd floor, which have since been marketed as “favourite rooms”. In addition, the public areas around the lobby, fireplace and tea room as well as conference rooms underwent a comprehensive refurbishment for around € 630,000.

As in 2023, “Jagdfeld Real Estate” attaches great importance to working as resource-efficiently as possible and, where it makes sense, to recycle instead of disposing of waste.

The “Parkhotel Quellenhof” in Aachen

In the spring of 1913, construction began on what was then the “Hotelpalast Aachener Quellenhof”, which opened on June 8, 1916. During the Second World War, in the fall of 1944, the entire interior fell victim to destruction and looting, and the lobby was completely destroyed. Only the structure of the Quellenhof building was preserved, the bathing facilities of the spa center were almost completely destroyed.

Reconstruction took years, and it was not until 1948 that the first hotel rooms were available again. After acquiring the “Parkhotel Quellenhof” from the city, “Jagdfeld Real Estate” completely modernized and renovated it in 1998/1999 and opened it in 1999 as Aachen’s first and only grand hotel on 18,848 m². In 2001 and 2002, the hotel with its then 181 rooms and suites was extended to include a 3,122 m² conference, wellness and beauty center.

The asset manager has managed the current “Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen” since the beginning (1999) on behalf of an owner company, which decided in 2019 to run the hotel as an individual grand hotel under its own management from 2020. Since then, the “Quellenhof” with its current 131 rooms and suites has been carefully and extensively modernized during ongoing operations.
