Aachen, Parkhotel Quellenhof

The Parkhotel Quellenhof was built in neoclassical style according to the designs of Carl Stöhr and opened in 1916. In 1999, it was extensively renovated and reopened by Jagdfeld Real Estate. Following the successful hotel renovation, the Parkhotel Quellenhof was nominated for the internationally coveted “Trophées Hermès” hotel Oscar and placed second only to the world-famous “Le Majestic” in Cannes.
The stylish, Far East-inspired design of the Quellenhof spa hotel, which was converted into a sophisticated, modern conference, wellness and beauty center in 2002, meets the highest international standards.

The Aachen luxury hotel is in an excellent inner-city location, in the immediate vicinity of the Eurogress congress center and the Kurpark, only approx. 1 km from Aachen Cathedral and the Palatine Chapel of Charlemagne. The European-focused location benefits from its proximity to Düsseldorf and Cologne as well as the countries bordering Aachen, Belgium and the Netherlands, with the nearby centers around Maastricht and Liège.

The Parkhotel Quellenhof has 122 exclusive rooms and suites, including 2 presidential suites with 110 and 144 m², a further 6 suites on the new 3rd“favorite floor“, a spacious lobby with an inviting entrance, the fireplace hall, the tea hall, the hotel bar(Elephant Bar) in colonial style and a bar with Asian design elements, the hotel restaurant “Bistro” with sun terrace as well as two private dining rooms and two large ballrooms.

The Quellenhof also offers an elegant BABOR “Wellness & Spa” area with indoor pool, sauna area, fitness room (completely renovated and upgraded in 2022), beauty cabins and treatment zones. The hotel also has a business center and 13 conference rooms. The integrated hairdresser – Stüber & Stüber Friseure – was the first salon in Aachen to be awarded five stars, thus doing justice to the style of the traditional hotel.

Various refurbishments 2020-2025

Since 2020, the first building on the square has been extensively revitalized step by step. The Quellenhof’s premise is always the greatest possible sustainability, so that the building’s technical systems with air conditioning, heating and ventilation technology, including controls, were overhauled and necessary adjustments were made to the fire protection system. All light sources have been replaced by energy-saving LED lamps. In addition to numerous other measures, these led to the receipt of the “Green Sign Label” level 4 (out of a possible 5) in 2023.

The refurbishment continued with the conversion of the outdoor terrace belonging to the “Bistro”. In addition to new flooring, large illuminated sunshades with a sound concept and completely new furniture and planters were installed. The terrace was also electrified and a new outdoor bar was added.

The comprehensive refurbishment of the entire 3rd floor, the new “favorite floor”, was completed in March 2023. For an investment of EUR 3 million, some rooms were completely rebuilt, as the previous 39 rooms have now become 27 rooms and 6 suites. The floor, walls (to the highest quality level Q4), ceilings, windows inside and out and balcony railings were renovated, new carpets were laid and new basic and decorative lighting was installed. New sofas, tables, desks, beds and curtains have been added, designed in three different color schemes for the different room types.

From summer to fall 2023, the public areas on the first floor: lobby, fireplace hall and tea hall were also refurbished, with ceilings, walls, floors and furniture being completely renewed. The fine dining rooms “Lodon”, “Wien” and “Lakmé” have also been modernized.

In 2025/26, a further almost € 2 million was invested in the hotel, continuing the resource-conserving revitalization of Aachen’s top address:

  • The 98 rooms and suites on the 1st and 2nd floors as well as the “Kurmittelhaus” were extensively modernized during ongoing operations and received new carpets and curtains, among other things; furniture and marble tiles in the bathrooms were refurbished or replaced. The suites have been particularly upgraded.
  • In the banqueting area, curtains and the wall coverings in the “Berlin” conference room were replaced and the music systems in the “London” and “Vienna” rooms were renewed; new banqueting tables and 200 chairs now provide numerous options for dinner arrangements and meetings.
  • The large oven system in the main kitchen was completely and extensively renovated, the cold stores were renewed and the walkways in the kitchen were optimized. The installation of LED lighting and motion detectors, initially primarily in the underground garage area, was also carried out for ecological and economic reasons.
  • The building automation system was upgraded with a new central computer, the grease separator was replaced, the fire alarm system was extended and parts of the waste water systems in the basement rooms were renovated.
  • A modern barrier system together with control and billing electronics enables convenient parking in the underground garage as well as in the outdoor parking lot.
  • In addition to the “Elephant Bar” on the first floor, a “Hotel Shop” will be set up for the first time, offering both everyday and unusual accessories for hotel guests.
