Jagdfeld Real Estate brings innovative Indian supermarket to “PLAZA Frankfurter Allee”

“Spice Junction”, a mixed retail and food concept, will also offer homemade street food and sweets on 370 m² from July 1

Düren/ Berlin, 26.01.2026. Asset manager Jagdfeld Real Estate has now let 370 m² to the new Indian supermarket “Spice Junction” in “PLAZA Frankfurter Allee” on a long-term lease. On July 1, the German-Indian Rakesh Swamy will set up his second supermarket on the first floor with direct access to Frankfurter Allee.

This is not just another one of the many barely distinguishable Asian supermarkets in Berlin. Owner Rakesh Swamy, who grew up in Berlin, has Indian street food such as amosa chaat, panipuri and masala dosa freshly prepared in front of customers in his supermarket. Indian vegetables with rice are also included, as well as a range of typical sweets such as gurpare (crispy bites made from wheat flour, cane sugar, cardamom and fennel), all of which he has made himself in Kreuzberg. Special fruit and vegetables such as bitter melons, scarlet runner beans, green mangoes and giant gooseberries can be found in the fresh produce section.

“‘Spice Junction’ will be a very special addition to ‘PLAZA Frankfurter Allee’, the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else in Berlin. In view of our location in colorful Friedrichshain and the numerous students at the IU International University, which is based here, I have no doubt that this extraordinary retail and food concept will be a success,” says a delighted Marius Lorenz, Head of Leasing at Jagdfeld Real Estate.
