HOTEL ADLON, BERLIN

A living legend in the heart of Berlin

The most famous German hotel, the legendary ADLON, is situated in a unique location in the capital city of Berlin, directly on Pariser Platz with the Brandenburg Gate and at the beginning of the boulevard “Unter den Linden”.

Since its opening in 1997, the ADLON has been considered by many to be the undisputed number one city hotel in Germany. The ADLON’s guest list impressively confirms its international reputation and exceptional position, as do the more than 60 international prizes and awards it has won to date.

The ADLON, which was once opened by Kaiser Wilhelm II on October 23, 1907 and burned down 24 hours after the capitulation of Berlin in 1945, was brought back to life by the visionary and developer Anno August Jagdfeld, who laid the foundation stone for today’s Jagdfeld Real Estate.
Louis Adlon’s widow, Hedda Adlon, received numerous offers in the post-war period to rebuild the ADLON in West Berlin or even in West Germany, but she turned them all down on the grounds that: “I would certainly like to see this house rebuilt in honor of my husband and his revered father Lorenz Adlon. I would like to rebuild the Adlon – but only if there is no more talk of a western or eastern sector and only where it once stood and where I spent the happiest time of my life: In the heart of Berlin – Unter den Linden No. 1“, so that the property remained undeveloped until the fall of the Wall.

More Information

In 1997, the exclusive 5-star-plus hotel and “Leading Hotel of the World” reopened in the style of the historic building with state-of-the-art technology, high-quality materials and a pleasantly spacious atmosphere. The prestigious building at the Brandenburg Gate also has – quite discreetly – the highest security standards, so that the ADLON is often referred to as the unofficial guest house of the German government and is the first address for crowned and uncrowned guests of state.

The ADLON welcomes its guests in its impressive entrance hall around the elephant fountain and bar. You can choose from over 380 rooms and suites, some of which are equipped with their own saunas, whirlpool and fitness rooms.

The three presidential suites with up to 240 m² and a personal butler are the crowning glory. The award-winning restaurants “Quarré” and the “Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer” (2 Michelin stars) as well as the Adlon Terrace, which offers a magnificent view of the Brandenburg Gate, offer unique experiences at the highest level. Stylish conference areas including two ballrooms as well as the spacious wellness and spa area round off the outstanding offer.

The ADLON had already reached its capacity limits shortly after reopening, so the first extension, the Adlon-Palais, was built on the neighboring property in 1999. Further lavish rooms for top-class congresses, conferences and festivities for over 500 people were created in the stately Palais-Saal.

The international Felix” clubthe restaurant units “le petit Felix” with Mediterranean cuisine and a southern French focus, the “Sra Bua by Tim Raue” with Asian cuisine, which Sra Bua Bar for bartending with a Far Eastern touch at the highest level, as well as the famous China Club Berlin with its roof terrace, which offers a unique view over Berlin, were opened.

The
China Club Berlin
resides on the top two floors of the Adlon-Palais, which has now established itself as Germany’s most exclusive business club. The furnishings, using the highest quality materials, and the exquisite ambience need fear no comparison.

The second extension, the ADLON residence, created the necessary additional logistics capacity. 70 additional rooms, including 20 suites, were added in 2002. The Adlon Day Spa by Resense Berlin with its beauty and wellness area and 17 treatment rooms for treatments and aquabalancing is an excellent addition to the sauna, fitness and swimming facilities in the main building.

In 2016, the heart of the hotel, the spacious lobby, was reopened after just three months of conversion and renovation during ongoing operations. You can find a detailed description here: Elephant fountain shines in new light at the Hotel Adlon
